This week Invest Aurora sat down with Trinidad Cervantes, owner of El Patrón Mercado and Carniceria. The business is a neighborhood style mercado y carniceria where you can find all of your grocery needs and more. El Patrón opened its doors just southeast of downtown Aurora in 2015, but the family has been in the grocery business for generations. Trinidad and her family were previous owners of Casa Blanca Mercado, which is one of Aurora’s first Hispanic grocery stores.
El Patrón offers a variety of fresh foods, merchandise, and operates a juice bar. Trinidad highlights the store’s clean and friendly environment. She loves seeing familiar faces coming into the store and takes the time to get to know the customers and their kids. Trinidad says, “It’s this personal touch that makes the job more enjoyable and gives the feeling of providing for the community”.
While many of the store’s customers come from the surrounding neighborhood, El Patrón’s meat department attracts customers from other towns. People as far away as Yorkville and Oswego visit the store to select from El Patrón’s extensive grade A meat selection. Special orders are not a problem, their experienced butchers are able to cater to individual customer needs.
Trinidad shared that she’s very happy with her Aurora grocery store and plans on being here for generations to come! In fact, she expects to expand her business a multitude of ways. Customers can expect to see new items in hot food bar, the addition of catering services, a food truck, and eventually a second location.
Please check out El Patrón Mercado and Carniceria. Whether you’re looking for a place to pick up groceries, a cup of coffee, or lunch El Patrón has you covered!
