Friday, January 24, 2014 – Aurora, IL – BYTEGRID Holdings, LLC, a national leader in the technology and data industries, announced this week that it will open its newest multi-tenant, high-powered data center in the City of Aurora to serve the growing high-tech market in the greater Chicago area.
BYTEGRID Holdings has acquired the 70,000 square foot, Tier III data center on 5.25 acres of land from Continental Casualty Company, an affiliate of CNA Financial Corporation (CNA). Regarded as one of the premiere enterprise data centers in the Chicago area, CNA built the facility in Aurora in 2007 with the goal of serving a wider market. CNA will continue to occupy approximately 30% of the facility and will remain the primary tenant in the facility.
“The Aurora facility is world-class and well suited for large organizations with the demanding requirements for security and reliability,” said BYTEGRID CEO, Kenneth Parent. “We are committed to the market and will continue to evaluate additional expansion opportunities here.”
BYTEGRID will immediately convert the facility into a multi-tenant data center and begin leasing to an already growing interest list of prospective tenants. New tenants will have access to the facility’s 6 megawatts of power capacity, 34,000 square feet of raised floor, and high reliability with a company-wide record for more than 100,000 hours of zero downtime. BYTEGRID’s highly secure, compliant business platforms serve the some of the world’s largest companies, including Fortune 50 global financial services, security and aerospace firms.
“The addition of BYTEGRID to the landscape of Aurora is very exciting and very timely. As a community, we have built a redundant 60+mile fiber optic ring and are providing valuable services to the community through OnLight Aurora,” said Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner. “BYTEGRID’s selection of Aurora affirms that we are on the cutting edge of technology and business. We are not only the City of Lights; we are the City of Light Speed.”
With this acquisition, BYTEGRID operates data centers in Washington, D.C., Atlanta, GA, Cleveland, OH and now Aurora, IL. Together, their facilities encompass more than 705,000 square feet of superior multi-tenant data center space meeting the highest standards for security and reliability.
